Scarf- Beginner’s guide!

Scarf (A unique savior to dress up for every occasion)

A scarf is one of such discoveries which rescues us from all the odds of looking either under dressed or overdressed. It falls somewhere in the middle and each fashionishta simply swears by it! A piece which is most girls first step towards experimenting.

(At least count me in :P )

Three rules reign the whole scarf story:

-          Wear them on a girly top, DON’T ever combine a scarf and a tomboyish T-shirt (they are foes in literal sense).

-          If wearing a plain, simple top then wear a floral, polka dot etc. any printed scarf. But in case your scarf is a monotone go for it with a top with design over it.

-          Key lies in CONTRASTING.

Don’t follow these rules blindly. If you think any of these are not working and you are able to work a look contrasting these, please post your looks. I’ll be glad to have a look and learn from you!

So here are a few trials I’ve discovered few by chance and few just copied.

1

This is one of the most basic forms to wear a scarf. Wear a printed, colourful scarf on a bare top. You may wrap it up all around neck ( the right picture) or just once, for a much more casual look ( left). It will simply brighten up the look which was previously just very laidback.

A much more conventional extension to this look could be simply by wrapping up the scarf in opposite directions twice. Girls with a heavy torso may be able to conceal the same with this style. It suits all face cute and is a sure show shopper.

Neither is it too extravagant nor too light; it just balances both the parameters.

For a much more formal look yet a stylish twist, wear a silky or a lace shirt and adorn the same with a neatly tied scarf. It will give you a classy edge over the usual boring white shirt.

You may simply use your scarf as a bandana over head in summer when you get a feeling that scarfs are just meant for the harsh winter. This way you’ll create a new style statement for the season and also protect your head. Just take care that the print on your scarf is meant for summer; as in it should be in warm colours like blue, white, yellow and not woollen and purple or dark blue etc. also the print should be breezy and be in sync with weather. Take a cue from the picture.

Now this is what I call another stunning look, a certain head turner. For all those of you who are more comfortable in casuals than the formals (and am sure many of you are) this is the look just for you. Excuse me for the gender in the picture but it applies to girls as well. Bind your scarf well crossways your neck over a structured coat/ blazer. Now a piece of advice here: your scarf as to be in a solid, formal, monotone, dark colour. You can’t simply wear a printed cotton muffler. The best colours could be Black, Navy Blue, Brown, Grey. Don’t push the boundaries so far that you get pushed out of the organisation. Keep the look simple yet formal. Needless to say your blazer has to be an unadorned one.

I was just going through a few pictures when I found this cute little thing: a button scarf. It’s so attractive that the moment I saw it, I knew I wanted to share it with you guys. It’s a best bet for all weathers and all occasions. For all those craft and knit savvy, you can also make it at home.

This brings us to the end of the scarf story. Do write in about how you found the articles, any suggestions, any complaints, or any photos of you how you experimented your look.
